Grow Bush Hills
Bush Hills Connections in partnership with Bush Hills Neighborhood Association is pleased to introduce "Grow Bush Hills" funded by the University of Alabama at Birmingham Micro-Grant.
Grow Bush Hills is a program offered to residents of Bush Hills focused on gardening and all things food - growing, preserving, and cooking. This is the perfect opportunity to get up and moving - we are looking for Able and differently-Abled residents. We have special accommodations for people with disabilities and encourage everyone to please sign up. It's just in time to get a jump start on a spring garden!
We are aware of the restrictions of COVID-19 and am pleased we can offer a safe space to learn gardening skills, get lots of fresh air, and exercise. Sessions will be held in the Bush Hills Community Garden and Urban Farm and online, for people unable to come to the garden, from the comfort and safety of your own home. Participants will receive all the supplies necessary to participate with lots of helpful information and guidance to have your very own home garden.
Participants will need to use a computer, tablet, or smartphone that can access Zoom, Facebook Live, and YouTube. So you are not computer savy... Don't fret; we have technical assistance and devices to help you succeed. All you need to participate are willing hands and time to learn, nuture your garden, and share.
The program will culminate with a full meal, that you will prepare, with ingredients we will provide for you and your family to enjoy. Participants must attend at least 75% of sessions and there will be prizes for participation.
